When Louise and Phil reached out to us about photographing their elopement at Hidden River Cabins in the beautiful heart of Cumbria, I knew this would be a memorable day. Nestled along a secluded riverside, the cabins offer a peaceful, natural setting—a perfect location for an intimate and meaningful celebration.
But what made this elopement even more special was that Louise and Phil had written their own vows, adding a deeply personal touch to their ceremony. And as both their photographer and their witness, I had the honour of capturing every moment of this beautiful commitment.

Laura captured our day perfectly. She is extremely talented and passionate about her photography and the results show this. The use of natural lighting and the small special moments she manages to capture are beautiful. We had an elopement wedding just the two of us and she made us feel completely at ease. Beforehand we had a meeting to discuss what we would like and she asked us lots of questions and got to know us a bit better. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Hidden River Cabins feels like stepping into a fairy-tale. Surrounded by towering trees and the gentle murmur of a nearby river, the cabins are tucked away in a quiet, woodland paradise. When I arrived that morning, everything was bathed in a warm, golden light, adding to the magic of the setting.
Louise and Phil were ready, a bit nervous but so excited, fully present in this once-in-a-lifetime moment. With no audience other than the forest and the river, it was just the three of us, sharing in a day that felt uniquely theirs.
They chose a secluded spot along the riverbank for their ceremony, where wildflowers and tall grasses naturally decorated the scene. The highlight of the ceremony came as they shared the vows they’d written just for each other. You could certainly feel the love and promises that went far beyond words.
Capturing these moments was an incredible privilege, and I found myself getting a bit misty eyed. Writing their own vows turned the ceremony into a deeply personal and genuine exchange - just beautiful.
After the ceremony, we took some time to capturing portraits in the beautiful natural surroundings. Their connection was effortless; whether they were standing close, sharing quiet laughter, or just holding hands, every shot felt so incredibly romantic.
We stopped at spots where light filtered through the trees, casting a warm, golden glow around them. The river and tall grass created a dreamy setting. Each portrait reflected the joy and warmth of their day, celebrating the love they had committed to in the most personal way.
